Kampania wyborcza dobiegła końca. W efekcie braku pomysłów doświadczyliśmy amatorskiej oraz niespójnej kampanii video online, gdzie sens został najzwyczajniej wypaczony. Zabrakło przede wszystkim jasnego celu obecności kandydata w sieci, który spójnie byłby zintegrowany z działaniami offline, co z kolei przełożyło się na brak doboru odpowiednich środków i metod, które miałyby nas – wyborców, zaprowadzić do urn wyborczych.
Obowiązkowym punktem odniesienia polskich specjalistów od wideo marketingu było case study „wzorcowej” kampanii Baracka Obamy. „Materiały wideo w Internecie wyraźnie odgrywają coraz ważniejszą rolę w sposobie, w jaki Amerykanie zdobywają informacje na temat polityki i wyrażają swoje opinie” – powiedział Ken Wirt, wiceprezes Cisco do spraw marketingu konsumenckiego. „Wybory prezydenckie w roku 2008 przyciągnęły uwagę całych Stanów Zjednoczonych, a Internet jest bardzo efektywnym narzędziem do poszukiwania informacji, dokonywania świadomych wyborów i dzielenia się swoimi opiniami z innymi Amerykanami”.
Przeprowadzone przez Cisco badanie Visual Networking Index wykazało pięciokrotny wzrost wykorzystania materiałów wideo w Internecie w porównaniu z poprzednimi wyborami prezydenckimi w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Tylko telewizja wyprzedza tam Internet jako najczęściej używane źródło informacji o wydarzeniach politycznych.
62 procent respondentów wskazało Internet jako regularne źródło informacji i relacji z przebiegu kampanii prezydenckiej w 2008 roku, a około 30 procent osób uprawnionych do głosowania oglądało w Internecie transmisję online z wydarzeń mających miejsce w trakcie kampanii. 75 procent tych osób odniosło wrażenie, że dzięki oglądaniu materiałów wideo w Internecie mogli lepiej monitorować przebieg wydarzeń.
Niestety, przenoszenie sposobu prowadzenia kampanii z USA bez refleksji i wiedzy, choćby o podstawowej strukturze społecznej w USA, musiało okazać się błędne i nie do zaadoptowania na polskim gruncie, gdzie wideo marketing nie jest na tyle popularnym narzędziem promocji.
Wyborczy film Jarosława Kaczyńskiego do złudzenia przypominał plakat z kampanii jego brata bliźniaka z 2005 roku. W spocie możemy zobaczyć bardzo podobną scenerię, biurko i pozę. W sieci pojawił się również spot Olechowskiego, w którym występują osoby publiczne, popierające jego kandydaturę. Jako pierwsza wypowiada się aktorka Anna Samusionek, ale zobaczyć możemy między innymi Władysława Frasyniuka czy Dariusza Rosati.
Kandydaci (w przeciwieństwie do Bronisława Komorowskiego, który jako pierwszy upublicznił swój spot wyborczy) nie mówią o swoim pochodzeniu, czy rodzinie, a skupiają się głównie na planach, jakkolwiek ogólne by one nie były.

Jak pokazywały wyniki internetowych sond przedwyborczych, Bronisław Komorowski tracił poparcie. Według danych Money.pl kandydat stracił 13 punktów procentowych w porównaniu do kwietnia 2010.

Rosło natomiast poparcie dla Jarosława Kaczyńskiego oraz Janusza Korwin-Mikkego, który notował 13-procentowe poparcie internautów.

Najlepszym odniesieniem do rodzimej kinematografii wyborczej byłoby przypomnienie legendarnego spotu Made in USA z 1968 roku. Wyprodukował go sztab wyborczy Huberta Humphrey’a, a dotyczył ubiegającego się o urząd wiceprezydenta Spyro Agnew, którego kwalifikacje większość Amerykanów oceniała bardzo nisko.

Mimo krytyki, politycy nie rezygnują ze stosowania marketingu politycznego, którego znaczenie dla ich wyników wyborczych w dobie szybkiego rozwoju mediów takich jak telewizja czy Internet, nieustannie rośnie. Dziś zrezygnowanie z walki o wyborcę za pomocą technik zaczerpniętych z marketingu handlowego musi równać się porażce. Wiedzą o tym politycy, wiedzą także specjaliści od reklamy.
