Mediacja oraz sądownictwo polubowne to procedury umożliwiające rozstrzygnięcie nieporozumień pomiędzy przedsiębiorcą a konsumentem. Pozwalają szybko i tanio rozwiązać konflikt bez udziału sądu. Niestety, w Polsce możliwości te nie są w pełni wykorzystywane. Główną barierą jest niewielka świadomość społeczna. Co czwarty obywatel* nigdy nie słyszał o instytucjach rozpatrujących spór pomiędzy firmami a słabszymi uczestnikami rynku. Często też przedsiębiorcy nie wyrażają zgody na poddanie się polubownemu załatwieniu nieporozumienia. Tymczasem, jak wynika z przeprowadzonych badań, 71 procent respondentów uważa, że firmy decydujące się na niezależne rozpatrzenie sprawy dobrze dbają o klientów*.
Dlatego też z okazji zbliżającego się Światowego Dnia Konsumenta, Urząd chce przypomnieć o pozasądowych formach rozstrzygania sporu. Mediatorzy oraz arbitrzy sądów polubownych opowiedzą jak wygląda procedura oraz zaprezentują najciekawsze przypadki ze swojej praktyki. Przedstawiciele administracji oraz biznesu zastanowią się z kolei nad możliwością udoskonalenia obecnie istniejących uregulowań prawnych.
